Five Smart Tips On How You Can Enjoy Music While On The Water

When you are relaxing and having fun, music and water can be part of it at the same time. Here are some ways to help you listen to music while you are swimming:

Purchase a waterproof case for your music player

You need not get yourself a new gadget if you want to listen to music while swimming. You can still make use of your current music player and get it a waterproof case. You will find many waterproof ipod cases, Zune cases, and other waterproof MP3 cases on the market today, and you can pair one with waterproof earphones to complete your gear.

Purchase an underwater music player

If you are not comfortable putting a waterproof case on your music player, you may purchase an MP3 that is intended for underwater use. With these music players, you don’t have to worry about accidents or leaks in your waterproof case that might cause your MP3 player to break.

Consider getting bone conduction sound equipment

Waterproof earphones may not produce the best quality of music underwater and may not give you the best comfort while swimming. Sound waves are disrupted underwater, which makes using standard earphones underwater unadvisable. Get bone-conduction headphones or music players if you want to experience better quality of sound while underwater. However, you’ll need goggles for these headphones to function. They are attached to your facial bone, instead to your ears, by clipping on to both sides of your goggles. Instead of conducting sound vibrations through the wearer’s ear canal, sound vibrations are transmitted via the bone in the inner ear. You may choose to purchase bone conduction headphones alone that can be attached to your MP3 player with waterproof casing, or you can buy a waterproof music player with bone conduction headphones included.

Have speakers that are waterproof and wireless

This option is ideal if you do not want anything on your ears or on your face. This is also a great idea for group swimming activities because all the swimmers can enjoy the music. Waterproof wireless speakers available today are compatible with iPod, Zune, and other MP3 players. These wireless speakers work using a transmitter that broadcasts music from your MP3 player to your speaker. With these equipments, everyone will not only love the great music, but you are also assured that your MP3 player will always remain dry and safe.

Install in your swimming pool a sound system that plays underwater

You may install a sound system that functions in and out of the pool, if you really love music while relaxing in the water. This setup includes waterproof speakers placed at the pool’s bottom and around the pool area. You can listen to music while you swim and even after you leave the pool.

With these smart ideas, swimming is made more enjoyable and relaxing. You can now fully enjoy your pool time if you have music with you even when you are in the water.

Is Roc Nation Building the Next Music Empire

Roc Nation, the record label of hip hop superstar Jay-Z, may indeed be building the next music empire. The label is already home to several of the industrys up and coming talents, including J. Cole and Willow Smith, with the most recent to the ranks being the budding star Jay Electronica.

The label, formed in April of 2008 through the partnership of Jay-Z and Live Nation, is a music industry original, merging talent and management in a unique and ingenious manner. The company is made up of songwriters, producers, artists and engineers.

An artist like Jay Electronica is bound to bring incredible benefits to the company, not only in terms of music and emcee talent but as a marketing and merchandizing expert as well. The reason for this is that “Jay Electronica download” is one of the most common internet searches performed by hip hop fans every day.

The manner in which the young rapper has reached viral stardom online is certainly a method that will be of benefit to the Roc Nation label. Releasing his first major track on his own MySpace page in 2007, Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge), Jay Electronica managed to rocked himself into the hip hop without a big record label or a huge marketing budget.

The emcee continued to release his work online via sites like MySpace and Twitter, taking advantage of the free publicity such social networking sites provide and marketing on the word-of-mouth activities of fans. The next single released, Jay Electronic Exhibit A was an instant hit among current fans, and managed to win the young artist even greater attention.

Beginning his formal career in Detroit, by making industry contacts that included some of the hip hop worlds best known producers, Jay Electronica managed to go from an internet sensation to an artist with a big name record deal in just three years, signing with Roc Nation in 2010.

So how did he manage such a feat? It was the Jay Electronica Exhibit C that likely secured his place in the hip hop industry, winning an “Instant Classic” award from the Sucker Free Summit Awards on MTV2. This formal recognition introduced even more music fans to the unique sounds of the artist and drove further online investigation of the artist, with internet searches for “Jay Electronica lyrics,” “Jay Electronica music” and “Jay Electronica download increasing exponentially.

It seemed somewhat unlikely during the first few years of his career that he would release a full album, but since signing with Roc Nation it now appears that Jay Electronica will do just that. Tracks from the new multimedia venture began to appear online in 2010, with the official release date planned for 2011.

Indian Classical Music vs Western Classical Music The Classical Story

Indian Classical Music is all about ragas. A raga portrays a mood, a sentiment, expressed through a microtonal scale. There are a number of ragas, each with its own mood and its own corresponding microtonal scale that is based on the natural harmonic series – the natural law of vibrations.
Today, Indian Classical music is influenced by a foreign tonal system that is not based on the natural harmonic series. This is the Western tonal system that has had a big influence on Indian Classical music. Many Indian Classical musicians, nowadays, make use of Western instruments such as guitar and drums.
Most Western audiences find Indian Classical music to be quite exotic. Two major reasons are the differences between the two traditions in tuning and scales.
The subtle differences
Let’s straightaway delve into the differences between these two vast genres of music to get a better idea:
Indian Classical Music (ICM) is primarily homophonic, which means that it focuses on creating melodies using a sequence of notes, whereas Western Classical Music (WCM) is to an extent polyphonic, which means multiple notes are played/sung together, where the counterpoint, harmony, and texture created using multiple voices is very important.

WCM is composed, whereas ICM is improvised. WCM compositions are formally written using Staff Notation, and performers usually follow that. But in the case of ICM, the Teacher-Student tradition of learning leads to each performance being an improvisation.

ICM uses “Taal”, where Taal is a cycle of beats that is centered on “Sam” that repeats itself. In the case of WCM, there aren’t any complex beat cycles.

WCM is modal and so has a chord for each note of the scale. On the contrary, ICM is tonal and, hence, is based on a single scale (a single drone, chord, and key).
Fusion all the way
But then again fusion is a growing concept in India. So, their differences and some similarities make fusion music even more interesting and challenging. If we take a deeper look, we will actually find a number of similarities. Today, “guitar” has acquired prime position and popularity in Indian Classical Music with Indian Ragas being played on guitar.
There are two types of Guitars that is used for fusion in India: Spanish guitar and Hawaiian guitar.A wide variety and mix of instruments ranging from Guitar, Drums, and Saxophone to Sitar, Tabla, and Flute are used for fusion music/concerts.
My band, known as Kaivalyaa, is also a fusion band, where we fuse various western genres with Indian Classical music. The Western and Indian instruments we use include Guitar, Drums, Keyboards, Mouth Organ, Bass Guitar, Harmonium, Flute, Sarod, Tabla, and a number of percussion instruments. Some of the big names in the Indian fusion scenario are Indian Ocean, Avial, Advaita, Raghu Dixit Project, Mother Jane, Tabla Beat Science, and Bandish Fusion. With varied influences, experiments, scales, tones, and sounds, fusion is the next big thing. So, if you want to know more about the Indian Classical scales/Ragas, you are at the right place.
